Today is the day for me to share this beautiful family with you! Each year I test my patience by keeping their photos underwraps until after the holidays so I don’t ruin any mailbox surprises for their friends and family. So now it’s time that I get to show off their updated images and I swear they just get cuter and cuter every single year. Believe it or not, I’ve photographed this family since Grant was a tiny little baby (ahhhhh they are SO big!).

As you can imagine with years of sessions in Illinois they’ve had their fair share of interesting weather conditions but this year was a first for us having their session scheduled on a day where RAIN was on the menu. Becky totally put her faith in me to move forward with the session even with the dodgy forecast and though I got to look amazing in a huge poncho I’m so glad we went ahead with their session as I love the location and the unique look we got for them. Giving my annual families something different each year is something I really challenge myself to do and I think we were successful this year for sure!

I had the honor to photograph Justin and Elizabeth’s wedding and have now created their Christmas cards for a couple years and I so love getting to see them again year after year. Our Limited Edition sessions were created for just this type of annual session. Often you may not need a full 45 minute – 2 hour session every single year. But your family is still growing, and changing and we want to highlight all those in-between years with you too. Those years between weddings, and graduations and family additions are just as important to us and to your family story. | Tarter Annual Fall Family Portraits | Decatur IL |

Today I get to share Payton’s family with you! “Ms. Payton” as she’s now referred to in our house since she’s started watching our little ones from time to time has been working with me for a few years now. She’s my ‘assistant’ but more of a jack of all trades here…. she assists in the office packaging up all your orders, dealing with ALL the huge piles of cardboard that comes with portrait orders and doing lots to keep the chaos of the office/studio reigned in. Plus, my toddler LOVES her so she not only helps in the office but she lends a hand with the home life as well being an extra hand with the girls.

I’ve now gotten to photograph her family a few times and this is I think my favorite sessions of theirs!

This year I had the pleasure of photographing the Beery family for the second time. I’m so excited for the gallery of wall art we’ve created for them this year and thrilled to share all their favorite images with you today. This little gal is about the same age as our own “baby B” (not a baby anymore!!!) so these guys are close to my heart as our girls are growing up so fast all at the same time.

Of course, we had to give her a little time in the spotlight solo. Isn’t she the sweetest (and a little attitude just under the surface there huh, toddler mommas can I get an amen).

For families with young children these sessions are perfect as they are just 15 or 30 minutes which is plenty for the short attention span of your children (or husband) haha. We’re already booking for our winter (January 1/12) and fall (September 14 and November 16) Limited Edition sessions and will add just one more summer date for 2019. Check out the Garvin family! I got to meet this beautiful family at our Fall Limited Edition session. One of my favorite things about our LE sessions is that they are a great way to ‘try on’ the SJP portrait experience. With no pre-session consultation and your choice of short 15 or 30 minute sessions they are a convenient option for clients with busy schedules and/or dads and kids who don’t LOVE being in front of the camera for an hour (haha any husbands out there that do?!?!).

And post-session you still get the full red-carpet treatment with your exclusive in-studio Premiere where you become the movie stars on our 106″ movie screen and we work with you to select images and create the perfect artwork for your home as well as to share with friends/family.

I have my set of annual clients who I get to see each year at these events and watching their kiddos grow over the years is seriously so rewarding but it’s so fun to meet the new faces like the Garvin’s and I swear you wouldn’t know this littlest guy didn’t know me before session. He warmed right up and was seriously working it for the camera. Even in 15 minutes I think it’s so important to let each of the kids shine with their own time in the spotlight. They are each such an important part of your family and we want to show off who they are right now so you don’t miss a moment (you’ll be shocked how much they change in just a year ahhhhh).
