Reese has such a fun bold and retro style which made it so fun to photograph her and try to pull in a bit of the beauty and edge.

I love that in a generation where you can literally play ANY song in the entire world in seconds on your phone (come on guys, read that all again – it’s CRAZY) she’s still rocking the vinyl. While I didn’t really grow up with vinyl (I’m happy to have held onto my parent’s collection) I vividly remember Friday nights heading to the mall to hang out at the music store, flip through CDs and push the little sample buttons to play snippets of the songs we wanted to hear (from the CDs I couldn’t afford lol). It’s a great time to be a music fan ya’ll!

Did you know all our senior clients get a FREE family session as our gift to them!?!? Why? Because my momma heart knows that while your kids are, of course, always your kids, their senior year is the last year they are really living in the space of being your children under your ‘rule’ so to speak. This year is when they are on the border between childhood and adulthood and they’ll be taking a big step soon into their very own lives.

We always think about adding portraits when we add children to our family with newborn portraits (have an adorable one of those sessions coming up for you soon) but what about one final family portrait before they branch out on their own fork of the family tree. One last portrait where they are just your baby before they are a partner or spouse or mom/dad in a few years.

I had the chance to photograph Peyton’s senior portraits last year and had just as much fun on their family session this winter. If it’s time to create your own family portraits before the kid(s) leave the nest, I’m ready!

It’s Kolapo’s day in the spotlight on the blog! One fun things about senior guy sessions is that their wardrobe changes are typically a little quicker than our senior gals, so we tend to be able to fit a LOT of work into a single session! We kicked things off with Kolapo at his home (they have some gorgeous land with a fun red barn) and that’s always a great plan for the family pets so they are comfortable in their own space. And can I just tell you I fell in love with Winston.

Random, bonus Monday blog post because I didn’t catch an error in this publishing last week as usual. But this is fitting today as we all try to unthaw in this 1* icy and snowy morning. I might be finally coming around to all you guys lamenting the snow and begging for spring (my feet are freezing today and my car doors froze closed!). Anyways, the snow IS still pretty…. see!!!

I got to photograph Kelly & Jacob’s wedding this past year and they decided to hang on to their free engagement session to use this winter as a family session and I’m so glad they did. Roger and I had a blast playing in the snow (mini snow dust fight may have gone down). And even though it was cold, it was so pretty!

I’m excited for their full image box to be headed home this week so they can share all their favorite images with friends and family. Our image box is a really fun twist on an album which we recommend often to make sure you have a beautiful space to keep/share all your favorite images in one place. The image box is a custom box featuring your favorite image on the cover/inside which we fill with 40 of your favorite images! It’s Jillian’s turn up on the blog today!! She was SO fun to photograph with her unique style, confidence in herself and comfort in front of the camera. All of this comes through in her images, made her sessions fun AND you can even see more of in her own youtube channel. What?!?! yup, that’s right. Check out this girl’s musical and creative talents on her channel HERE.

It’s so cool to me, that high schoolers (and younger) are growing up in a time where you can just create… want to be in music videos? Want to be a videographer? There’s no longer a barrier of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment to get to those goals. Your camera and recording device is right in your pocket. This is a key concept I speak about every time I speak to groups of young people who’d like to grow up to be creatives or entrepreneurs… you no longer have to ‘grow up’ to chase those dreams!

So while we took a more traditional path for Jillian’s wall art (to match those created for older siblings), I knew for her album I wanted to add a bit of modern and unique design and I’m excited to share not only some of her favorite images but also a few of those design pages today.
