Today, I get to share Tucker’s senior session with you. He’s just weeks away from graduation!!! We hung out around the high school to create a variety of looks to celebrate the end of his high school career.
| Cory | Maroa-Forsyth High School Senior Guy Portraits | Class of 2019 |
Hey guys (like literally GUYS)… senior portraits are not just for the ladies! Sure, maybe you haven’t been thinking about your senior pictures for years (or maybe you have – we love that!).. maybe you think it will be uncomfortable or weird. I get it, for real… I have been a photographer for 15 years and with my husband for all 15. Luckily for him the annual photo sessions didn’t really start until after we got married and had kids but NOW I make this poor man have his photo taken EVERY SINGLE YEAR (I mean, he married a photographer, he should have known).
So what does that mean for you senior guys?!?! It means that not only behind the camera but also in front of it I’ve learned how to make you 100% comfortable… I’ll make sure you know what to do in front of the camera and then we’ll laugh and joke and hang out and make it way less stressful and boring than you may think it could be.
We do have to start with a plan, this is YOUR session and we need to design it to fit you and show off who you are. Love your truck? Bring it! Love your dog? You better bring him/her! Love your gun, bow, 4 wheeler, boat, sports, games, guitar, drums (you name it)…. BRING IT!
| Madelaine | Class of 2019 Senior Model | Decatur IL |
I’m a day behind on our blog post this week (which usually comes out Tuesdays) but for good reason. Yesterday, my husband and I spent a little over two hours (had NO idea it would take quite that long, hence not all my planned work getting done in the office) at our studio site walking through every room to outline our electrical plans. Those of you who have built things in the past will know what we learned that you essentially get to choose where every switch, bulb and outlet goes and we have just a couple tricky areas including a hand designed huge lighting piece that I’ve dreamed up and need the help of my electrician, contractor and local woodworker to pull off! If you haven’t been following along on our build check out my IG featured stories and you can see everything from day one when we purchased the land last fall!
So as we prep for a super exciting change in the SJP world I am also finishing up things for our amazing class of 2019 senior models including Madelaine. This girl was seriously a joy to work with! She didn’t have a single bad angle and braved everything from FREEZING cold shoots in Indianapolis to HOT summer sessions at the Decatur Celebration.
We had her full senior session at Allerton which is always a beautiful location to work at. One thing I try to do with a location that a number of seniors request is to try to use the location differently each year for each senior. There’s so many beautiful areas to explore there that there’s no reason for your images to look just like anyone else’s even if that means having you climb into some shrubs for something fun under the trees.
The last area we stopped at on the way out of Allerton was a little side road I had wanted to stop and shoot at for years but just hadn’t made it happen. I knew going in to her session we were going to do it that day and it did not disappoint.
I’m thrilled to share with you all today not only her favorite images but a number of her album pages too! Don’t miss your chance to join us for a year long senior portrait experience by applying now at sjanephotograph.com
| Alex | Maroa-Forsyth High School Senior 2018 |
Check out Alex’s senior session(s)! I always love working to feature what my clients love and fitting their hobbies and collections into their session. Well when I mentioned making sure to bring a few pairs of shoes for the session both Alex and his momma laughed that finding a ‘few’ wouldn’t be a problem and they were definitely right so we worked in his 20+ pairs of shoes into his session. The hardest part was definitely picking which ones for him to wear with each outfit #somanychoices!
And being multi-talented we found a way to feature his sports, academics and drum into the session even having a little fun with him drumming with water.
| Holly | Warrensburg-Latham High School Senior 2018 |
Today I get to share Holly’s senior portraits with you!!! Her session was so much fun! We started in studio for a few classic looks and to show off her trophy and metal stash as she’s one fabulous athlete.
Then we headed downtown to create a few edgier looks and explored a few new locations.
And to finish out her session we popped over to Hickory Point Golf Course. She runs cross country meets there so we wanted to keep things authentic with that look and were able to create a few nature looks along the way.
Be sure to check out our IG and Facebook to see a few more from her session!
